I. Editorial: Voting for democracy on 8 March

As a queer, non-profit sports club, the keywords democracy, fairness and tolerance are particularly important to us! Never before have right-wing populist parties been so influential in the world. The socio-political climate is also changing in Germany.

We are delighted that some of our Team Munich members are also politically active in various parties and wish them good luck for the elections!

The elections on 8 March have an influence on life in Munich!

The future elected representatives will decide, for example, how sport is to be promoted, how the (sports) infrastructure is to be maintained or expanded, how important the issues of justice, acceptance, equality and participation will be, and much more.

So take part in the local elections on 8 March! Get informed and vote!

V. Streetboys

The month of February was characterised by preparations for the second half of the season. Intensive training sessions were held at various Soccer Five arenas in Munich with a high level of participation.

To promote team spirit, a small curling tournament was organised at the Bamberg House in the Olympic spirit of „Taking part is everything“.

The official season opener will take place on 8 March 2026 at 11.00 a.m. against ESV München-Ost III. We hope for broad support from the local audience.

All other matchday dates in March can be found below in the newsletter.

VI Table tennis

The table tennis section had another opportunity to train with Lukas Kurfer at the beginning of February. Despite the good weather, the hall was full - even with new faces, which we were particularly pleased about. In addition to topspin for the forehand and backhand, we were also able to hone our serves.

With approx. 2150 Q-TTR points, Lukas is an experienced regional league player at TSV Gräfelfing. We are already looking forward to the next special training sessions with him. At the moment they take place once a quarter.

VII. Handball

The handball team has only played one match in recent weeks, but it was a tough one.

On 25 January, the team faced TS Jahn München II at home. After the visitors initially got into the game better, it quickly became a very even game. We even led 10:8 at half-time. The second half was similarly close and we often had our noses in front, but in the end we had to settle for a 22:22 draw. Our next league game will take place on 2 March at 8.15 pm away against ESV Neuaubing II.

But it wasn't just on the pitch that things got busy: on 7 February, we met up for a team evening at Café Blue. We had a wonderful evening with delicious food.

Like many other teams, we are already working hard towards the 2026 Summer Sports Festival. We are planning a workshop, an open day with training, lunch and a game. More details will follow, so stay tuned. Everyone is welcome to register and take part, no matter how much experience you have.

Do you know someone who would fit into our team? We are currently looking for new players and a new coach. For more information about us, training times, halls and more, please visit our page https://teammuenchen.de/sportart/handball/

VIII Rugby

On 31 January, the time had finally come: MunichMonks‘ long-awaited winter highlight - snow rugby in Innsbruck! They had been training for a long time on frozen meadows and in the hall. The Munich Monks travelled to Innsbruck with a men's and a women's team as well as many fans and supporters. Both teams had four games each. The women's team competed against Münster, Tübingen, Innsbruck and the players from MRFC in Munich. The men's team faced Ulm, Bataillon d'Amour, Tübingen and Innsbruck on the snow-covered pitch at Patscherkofel. Both teams had a lot of fun, scoring points and making tough tackles, but unfortunately did not make it to the semi-finals. At the party afterwards, which was themed „Fairytale“, the Monks dressed up as Shrek characters and were able to round off the evening together with all the other teams.

IX. Badminton

Badminton club championships

On Sunday, 12 April, Our annual club championships will take place on the 3rd of July, and hopefully many players will be there again! We will be playing a doubles tournament from around 1 pm. Please register as a fixed pairing. If you are looking for a partner, please talk to others in training. If necessary, we can also help you find a partner. There will be a preliminary round in the Swiss system, followed by a knockout system in separate levels of play, so that players of all abilities can get their money's worth and a high number of games is possible. The end is around 6 pm.

Registration takes place via a registration link that is sent to the division members. If people from other divisions would like to take part, please write to badminton@teammuenchen.de. The registration deadline is Wednesday, 1 April.

Our teams in the leagues

February was a mixed bag for our three teams. Team München I drew 4:4 against PTSV Rosenheim, won 5:3 against ESV München-Neuaubing and is still second in the Bezirksoberliga. Team München II lost 0:8 against ESV München-Ost, but won 5:3 against TuS Geretsried III. The result is currently 4th place in the Bezirksliga SüdOst. Surprisingly, our third team unfortunately lost its two February matches by a narrow margin of 3:5 against ESV München-Ost III and SV Lohhof VI, but is still top of the table in the Bezirksklasse B-Mitte.
