Your queer sports club in Bavaria's capital.
Team Munich –
The sporting diversity.
With over 1,000 members, we are the largest queer sports club in Bavaria. Since our foundation, many dedicated people have been committed to raising the profile of the club in Munich and the nationwide LGBTIQ+ community and developing it further.
Our motto is:
Together we are stronger
We currently offer recreational sports in over 20 different disciplines — from football and dancing to yoga. Some of our teams participate with great enthusiasm and success in the Bavarian leagues, for example in football, table tennis, badminton, handball, rugby and volleyball. We also collaborate with other queer clubs in Munich to strengthen the links between sport, exchange and community.
We are committed to visibility and acceptance
Our other activities in the association
In addition to sport, we are also active outside the hall, the pitch or the studio: Team Munich is regularly represented at numerous community events in Munich, Germany and worldwide – always with passion, team spirit and a joy in diversity. Examples of this are:
- Our multi-sport tournament "SommerSportFestival"
- Climbing in co-operation with the GOC
- Participation in the Run for Life
- Our own truck at the CSD Munich
- Information stand at various street festivals
- Member association in international umbrella organisations such as the EGLSF and FGG
We want to offer queer people and allies a safe space to do sports.
Twenty-five years of queer sportsmanship in Munich
Over many years, a diverse queer sports scene has developed in Munich, consisting of numerous smaller gay and lesbian clubs and groups: Bavaria Rosé (volleyball), the FrontRunners (running), the Isarhechte (swimming), the Streetboys and Elfen (football), the Racketclub (tennis/squash/badminton), the Amazonen (women's club) and other initiatives.
In 1998, several of these Munich teams travelled together to the Gay Games in Amsterdam for the first time. The shared experience showed how much stronger they could be when they acted together – and back in Munich, the desire arose to combine these forces on a permanent basis.
In July 1999, Team Munich was finally established as a registered, non-profit association.
Since its inception, queer sport has continued to develop in Munich, the capital of Bavaria. The growing momentum and commitment of many clubs made it possible for the EuroGames to be held in Munich in the summer of 2004, with over 5,000 athletes and thousands of visitors and spectators.
Today, more than 3,000 athletes are organised in eight LGBTIQ+ clubs in Munich, together shaping a diverse and vibrant queer sports landscape.
Team Munich's 25th anniversary celebration on 8 June 2024 impressively showcased our success story: the range of sports on offer and the number of members have more than tripled since the beginning, and Team Munich remains the driving force behind new leisure and sports activities in Munich to this day.
Even today, the LGBTIQ+ community makes us strong. Even today, it is clear how important a large queer sports club like Team München is – a club that has already achieved a lot, but still has a lot to achieve in the future.

Events we are proud of
Team Munich is not only active in sports, but also regularly organises and co-organises major queer sporting events and community highlights. Here you will find a selection of our past tournaments, campaigns and events that show how colourful, diverse and committed our community is – both on and off the field.
