I. From the Executive Board

Fourth lesbian street festival in Munich

On 21 June, our city once again hosted the lesbian street festival, which provided another wonderful opportunity to celebrate the community, exchange ideas and raise awareness of important issues. The weather was pleasant, which attracted many visitors and created a lively atmosphere.

Our information stand was a great success! With a lot of commitment and passion, we provided information about our association, current projects and support services. The great response was particularly gratifying: many people showed interest in our giveaways, asked questions and exchanged ideas with us. The positive feedback and numerous conversations have encouraged us to continue actively advocating for the rights and visibility of the LGBTIQ+ community.

We would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of our information stand and look forward to the next meeting!

Team Munich wins the audience award on the Magic Bar Tour

On 28 May, Team Munich was one of many hosts offering the 500 participants in the Magic Bar Tour a free glass of Prosecco or orange juice in exchange for a coupon from the MBT magazine. At the end of the evening, we were able to £363 in donations and later received a pleasant surprise on top of that. Our guests voted us the winner of the audience award by a large majority. „Best offer from MBT 2025“.

The award was presented to our bar staff on CSD Sunday. We can be proud to have won this coveted prize as well.

Munich team at CSD

On 28 and 29 July, Team Munich took part in the CSD with an information stand, a truck and a walking group in the parade. A huge thank you goes to Dirk and the parade float organising team, our beloved stewards, without whom the event would not have been possible, as well as all the members who manned the information stand and promoted the association in countless conversations. Without your help, such a mega-event could not have been organised. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

III. Tennis

In June, the popular King Ludwig Cup took place in the Bavarian capital – and we didn't miss the opportunity to compete with 13 players in various leagues. After a cosy welcome event the evening before, the first round matches in singles and doubles were on the agenda on Friday. In perfect summer weather, our boys fought for every point, resulting in several appearances in the finals over the weekend.

At the traditional Bavarian players' dinner on Saturday evening, we gathered our strength once again for the final matches on Sunday. Here, we were delighted to secure several first and second places:

• Tom B – Winner Singles B

• Peter K – Winner Singles C 40+

• Steve M – 2nd place singles D

• Adil B – 2nd place in doubles B

• Sammy K – Winner of the doubles C

• Dietrich G – 2nd place in doubles B

• Chris S & Mike M – 2nd place doubles C

These successes underline how well our lads are doing this season! Congratulations!

IV. Handball

June was celebrated in style by the handball players. In addition to our training sessions, there were several enjoyable events that we were able to enjoy in perfect weather. On 7 June, we celebrated our annual summer party-/ End-of-season party in our home hall on St. Cajetan Street. We had a great time with delicious food and drinks.

A week later, our all-rounder Even celebrated his farewell in the English Garden. The weather was fantastic, and lots of players and friends came together to give our Norwegian a fitting send-off. But that wasn't all, of course: we also celebrated in style at the CSDWe popped the corks in glorious sunshine.

But now it's back to training, training, training. After all, in three weeks' time we're off to Lyon for the Eurogames, which we have been looking forward to for months.

Do you know anyone who would fit into our group, who is really keen on handball or would like to give it a try? We are currently looking for new players and a new coach.. For more information about us, training times, halls and more, please visit our website. www.teammuenchen.de/handball (The Last of the Mohicans).

V. Rugby

With two full teams, the Munich Monks will be at the Union Cup or Emily Valentine's Cup goes to Oslo travelled. The tournament is the largest inclusive rugby tournament in Europe and is definitely already the highlight of the year for the teams.

Together with the Vienna Eagles from Vienna, a men's team („Flying Monks“) and a FLINTA team („Flying Nuns“) were formed. Both teams fought hard but fairly for the trophies. They played against teams from all over Europe, including strong rugby nations such as France, England and Ireland. Was all the training worth it? Definitely.

The Flying Nuns are proud of their achievement in reaching 5th place. For a mixed team that only came together on site and competed with many new players who still had little playing experience, this is an excellent result. The Flying Monks once again achieved an incredible 3rd place (out of 16 teams).

It was a very successful tournament for the Monks, as rugby is still a niche sport in Germany and they performed very well through hard work in a very balanced field.

Overall, every player was able to perform at their best. This was celebrated at the end of the tournament with a wild closing party, where both teams were presented with trophies and lots of new international friendships were formed. We are already ready and looking forward to the next tournament!

Pride in Budapest: Tens of thousands defy Orbán

Despite a ban by Viktor Orbán's Hungarian government, tens of thousands of people came to Budapest for the Pride Parade on the last weekend in June – more than ever before. Members of our Hungarian sister association Atlasz Budapest were also there. “The Pride Parade was a huge success, with around 200,000 participants,” Atlasz Budapest wrote to us. “Estimates vary between 100,000 and 500,000 – you can take any number in between, and it was still the biggest Pride ever in Hungary. Thank you for your love and support, and especially to the clubs that participated here in Budapest. A big hug to you all!“

IX. Announcement from the FGG regarding the 2026 Gay Games in Valencia

The Federation of Gay Games is unreservedly committed to the human rights of all LGBTQ+ people – especially transgender people, who remain among the most marginalised members of our community. We strongly condemn the proposed amendments to Valencia's transgender law.

When Valencia was selected as the host city for the 2026 Gay Games in November 2021, the city was under a previous administration. Since then, our cooperation agreement – which covers venues, security, key public services and the ability for transgender people to participate – remains in place, and we have assurances that the city and regional authorities will honour their commitments.

We want to make it clear to our participants from Spain and around the world: All participants can enjoy a safe and inclusive event where they are guaranteed to participate with their chosen gender identity.
