Team Munich visits the town hall

On 15 July, Thorsten (2nd from left) and Robert (right) were guests in the parliamentary chamber of Munich City Hall at the invitation of the Die Grünen/Rosa Liste/Volt parliamentary group. Together with many committed representatives from the queer community, we were able to experience an evening full of dialogue, inspiration and encounters.

A special highlight was the moving poetry slam by stage poet Maike Harms, which opened the evening impressively. In a relaxed atmosphere, we were able to hold valuable discussions and take away new ideas for our work at Team München. Many thanks to the parliamentary group for the invitation and the opportunity for dialogue!

Team Munich at CSD Wasserburg

On Saturday 5 July, Wasserburg am Inn hosted its own small CSD for the second time. For the second time, Team München was allowed to be present on site, which we were happy to do with our information stand and a total of three members. Alongside many other speakers, Team Munich was able to give a short speech on the topic of sport in a queer environment. There were around 200 participants in total, and it was a very nice, relaxed CSD in beautiful Wasserburg. We are already looking forward to continuing to support CSD Wasserburg in the future.

II Team Munich at the EuroGames in Lyon

The EuroGames took place in Lyon, France, from 23 to 26 July - and Team Munich was represented in many sports. Here are the reports from our members who were in Lyon.

Martina from the Table Tennis:

"The atmosphere at the competitions was the same as always: fair, respectful and connected. We played a lot, talked a lot, laughed a lot - and one evening we even met the goalkeeper of the French national football team in a bar. I was particularly pleased with our silver medal in the doubles - together with my French partner Cyril Didier. But the best thing was: the sense of community, the conversations with people from over 50 nations - and a week that simply did me good. It was my third EuroGames - and certainly not the last."

The results of the table tennis players:

Individual - Division A: Björn bronze (first photo left), Division B: Daniel bronze

Doubles - Division B: Daniel Gold (second photo third from left), Martina: Silver (second from right)

Gunnar from the running division: (participant in athletics and 10K run)

"The Eurogames Lyon were my ninth EuroGames and I really enjoyed them. The competitions I took part in (athletics and 10 km Pride Run) were well organised and it was nice to see posters all over the city advertising the event. My conclusion: Beautiful games in a beautiful city!"

Streetboys football:

There was a special highlight at the Eurogames in Lyon: some of our players competed in a team and achieved a strong 7th place - a great result that impressively reflects the commitment and passion of our team.

Handball:

Every year we take part in the Euro Handball Pride Championship, which was integrated into the EuroGames this year. Last year, we were the hosts in Munich, so we were really looking forward to seeing the other teams again. Team Munich competed this year with 20 players and formed two mixed teams.

On two intensive tournament days, the two teams fought many exciting duels on the pitch, with Team Orange finishing in 12th place and Team Blue in 16th place out of a total of 24 teams. Of course, the focus was on sport, but there was no shortage of partying either.

And anticipation is the greatest joy, as we are already looking forward to the Euro Handball Pride Championship 2026 in Amsterdam. You can find out more about the EHPC here: https://www.pridehandball.com

III Volleyball Queerleague Champion

In mid-July, Team Munich I and II played their final matchdays in the Queerleague at the same time. Both teams finished in first place in their respective levels and are therefore promoted to the next level for the coming season.

[BEZ_MANDANT]

Team Munich I faced their last four opponents of the season in Vienna. Despite an initial defeat against KMP Stuttgart (1:2), our team remained focussed and won the other three games against MVD Remixed Mannheim, Janus Brothers Cologne and Vienna Unicorns with 2:0 each.

After an extremely exciting and hard-fought season, Team Munich is now in first place in Level B-South with a one-point lead and has thus been promoted to Level A of the Queerleague!

Team Munich II also secured 1st place in Level C South on the last matchday. Our team won all four of its remaining matches with 2:0 or 2:1.

In the end, Team Munich II is deservedly and unchallenged at the top of the table and can therefore play in Level B in the coming season!

IV. Football

The Streetboys are back on the pitch. And even though the first test matches of the new season unfortunately ended in defeat, we are looking ahead with confidence. The matches were hard-fought and showed us what we still need to work on - but above all how much potential there is in the team.

On 24 August 2025, we will finally be officially kicking off the new season! Anyone interested is cordially invited to support us on the pitch or become part of the Streetboys themselves. You can find more information about the league at www.bfv.de or directly in this newsletter under the dates.

V. Rugby- Bavarian champions

On 19 July, the Bavarian 7-a-side rugby championship took place in Hersbruck near Nuremberg. Four Munich Monks players competed in the TuS Fürstenfeldbruck team. In three exciting preliminary round matches, they won 29:0 against Augsburg and 24:12 against Regensburg/Innsbruck/Bad Reichenhall. The third match against MRFC ended in a 19:19 draw. With this preliminary round without defeat, the girls from TuS Fürstenfeldbruck secured their ticket for the final of the Bavarian championship.

Their opponents in the final were once again MRFC. Just like the preliminary round match against MRFC, the game ended in a 17:17 draw. Accordingly, the "golden try", i.e. the next point scored, was to decide the match and play continued. The team from Fürstenfeldbruck ultimately won the championship with an unforgettable try from a Monk player in an absolutely nerve-wracking final.

VI Tennis League Champion

What a season for Team Munich!

While the first men's team secured promotion to the next league on the penultimate match day with an impressive series of wins, the second team in the Südliga 6 also showed just how much passion and team spirit this club has.

The history of the first team reads like something out of a picture book: with five wins from five games, promotion was already certain on 20 July. This success was made possible by confident performances, mental strength and a real sense of unity on and off the pitch. The final matchday on 27 July will be the well-deserved crowning glory of a season in which everything simply came together - both on a sporting and personal level.

Even if the second team finished in lower mid-table, the season was anything but disappointing. On the contrary: the boys from Team München II showed week after week how much energy and commitment they had. The league had a strong field - led by the eventual group winners TC Ismaning IV, who finished the season without losing a point. However, Team München II never let themselves down, fought with self-sacrifice and were rewarded with an acclaimed victory against WB Fideliopark III on 20 July.

Congratulations to both teams - here's to a strong 2026 season!

Finally, a big thank you to the entire Team München club, our cooperation partner SVN München and all the supporters, helpers and spectators who made this season possible with their commitment, time and applause.
