Today, we would like to share with you our position as Bavaria's largest queer sports club on the topic of „Munich's bid for the Olympics“Communicate and explain:

The initial situation:

Currently, the IOC leaves it up to the respective National Olympic Committees (NOCs) of the host Olympic countries to regulate how to deal with trans* athletes. As a result, the American NOC currently excludes trans* people from participating in the Olympics across the board and may even want to deny these trans* athletes entry into the country.

In accordance with Olympic philosophy, the Olympics should be free from political influence and enable fair, free and equal competition. For everyone.

Our statement:

We, Team München e.V., will support Munich's Olympic bid as long as the IOC and NOC do not exclude trans* people across the board and thus discriminate against them.“

We, Team München e.V., as one of Germany's largest queer sports clubs with over 1,200 members of diverse sexual and gender identities, and as an all-round diverse sports club, support Munich's bid to host the Olympics from a purely sports policy perspective and interest. However, we can only do so in the interests of ALL our members as long as trans* people are not excluded from participating in the Olympics across the board.

Blanket exclusion is tantamount to discrimination against transgender people in sport.

In justified cases, special treatment of trans* persons compared to cis persons may be necessary in order to avoid discrimination against one of the two groups.

However, this special rule must be justified by factually sound and validated studies. A special rule must then be, for example, the participation of trans* athletes in open competitions at the Olympic Games.

Special arrangements must include the following aspects:

  •     – Generally recognised, scientifically validated studies and arguments for each sport discipline that justify special regulations for trans* athletes in order to avoid disadvantaging cisgender athletes.

  •     – if a special rule is to be introduced, then the creation of an open competition group within the Olympic Games

We, Team München e.V., believe that as a queer community, we must stand together for the rights of ALL athletes, whether trans or cisgender.

The Olympics must not become a pawn in national and international political interests and ideologies.

II. From the Executive Board

presentation

In this newsletter, we would like to introduce two of our board members: this month, Anh and André.

Hello, I am Anh and have been with Team Munich since April 2018. My heart belongs to FLINTA* football. One of my highlights was winning the championship title in the Women's Leisure League 21/22 with the team.

On the board, I am the media representative, women's representative, and deputy member services manager. I am also a member of the Sports Advisory Board of the City of Munich and a delegate in the +PLUSS project of the EGLSF and EU.

My voluntary work in the LGBTQI+ sector gives me a certain sense of personal fulfilment. Through my work, I feel a deep connection to the community and see that my contribution can make a positive difference in the lives of others. This strengthens the sense of community and promotes social interaction. It is important to me to do something meaningful and to fight alongside other people who stand for similar values.

Anh can be contacted via anh@teammuenchen.de be contacted.

My name is André. At 58, I am one of the dinosaurs on the board. I have been a member of Team Munich since January 2001. I am a founding member and division director of the Basketball Korbschlampen (since 2001) and Minigolf (since 2024). Of the 26 tournaments with the Korbschlampen, the tournament victory in Berlin in 2010 stands out. Participating in EuroGames or GayGames is the most fun. The feeling of participating in a tournament and celebrating with thousands of others is indescribably wonderful.

I have been on the board since 2018, managing the information address and creating the newsletter since 2020. I am a delegate for the EGLSF, the FGG and the +PLUSS project of the EGLSF and EU. I have taken on voluntary roles at Sub and CSD in recent years.

Team Munich is very close to my heart, and I am delighted that my support enables me to make a meaningful and important contribution to the club.

André can talk about andre@teammuenchen.de be contacted.

club meeting

On 13 September 2025, our association held an extremely productive closed-door meeting, during which the topics of strengthening responsibility and recruiting and integrating volunteers into the association were discussed. Numerous ideas and concrete measures were presented to promote engagement and, in particular, to attract younger members and retain them in the long term.

The closed meeting was attended by all board members and members from various disciplines, including representatives from yoga, mini golf, basketball, football (Flinta* and Männer*TIN), tennis, badminton, table tennis, volleyball and rugby.

Adjustments and revisions to the code of conduct and the handbook for division managers were discussed, with references to communication, budget, data protection, sponsorship and other organisational issues.

Specific measures for recruiting volunteers were drawn up, and ideas for attracting and integrating young members were formulated. Another topic was the promotion of community and identification. The various points will be implemented in the coming months.

The joint exchange across the divisions was great fun for everyone involved and once again demonstrated how much our association means to each individual and how important it is to work together across divisions.

III. Team Munich at Run for Life

On Sunday, 14 September 2025, the annual Run for Life for the 25th time Our Munich running team set up and took down the course markings in pouring rain. We also had our information stand on site again, which was manned by FLINTA* football, dancing and the board.

[BEZ_MANDANT]

Despite the rain, we were once again able to have some nice conversations with interested parties. Thank you to everyone who helped mark the route and man the stand for persevering despite the sometimes pouring rain and cool temperatures.

Just in time for the run, the weather turned dry and sunny. This meant we could enjoy a relaxed and cheerful afternoon of sport in the English Garden. The run raised €35,772.00 for Munich AIDS Aid – a fantastic sum.

IV. Handball season begins

The new season is just around the corner!

In order to set the course for the new season, the handball players met for a joint team meeting on 4 September at the SUB. Future events, matches and everything else was discussed, and we organised ourselves for the coming months.

On 17 September, we were able to defeat SVN Munich in a practice match Both teams tried out a lot of things, testing plays and combinations for the upcoming season. In the end, we lost 21:28, but we gained a lot of insights and are now excited for our first league game on 5 October at home against HSG München West 2 – we look forward to seeing lots of visitors!

In addition to preparing for the season, we also attended the Oktoberfest, of course. The Team Oktoberfest 25 September was a real highlight.

Do you know someone who would fit into our team? We are currently looking for new players and a new coach. For more information about us, training times, venues and more, please visit our website. www.teammuenchen.de/handball

V. Miniature golf

Our division's first outdoor season is coming to an end. Unfortunately, the unsettled weather severely limited our activities. This made it all the more enjoyable that in mid-September, we were able to play again with competition-proven players from 1.MGC München-Feldmoching. train intensively The focus was on courses with particularly tricky obstacles such as volcanoes and mazes, sloping circles and somersaults. In addition to overcoming these obstacles, we deepened our understanding of the basics of stroke technique and posture, supplemented by a little „ball school“.

The Team Munich beach towels presented to the coaches of 1. MGC as a „thank you“ were more than deserved after 2.5 hours of training. In addition to the regular players in our division, 10 members of the Munich Youth Centre diversity We would like to thank you very much for your visit and the friendly and lively exchange that followed at our favourite Greek restaurant in Seehaus Feldmoching.

Further dates for October can be found in the calendar at the end of the newsletter.

VI. Volleyball

The last match day for Siam Angel took place at the end of September in the Queer League took place at Level D-Süd in Stuttgart. On the third match day, Siam Angel left no doubt about their promotion ambitions. All four opponents (Volley-Vous mit Spaß, Baggerbuben, Rainbow Basel and Monnem Penguis) were left behind again on this day and had to admit defeat to Siam Angel with a score of 2:0 each. Siam Angel thus deservedly finished the season in first place in the table and will be promoted to Level C in the coming season.

In addition, at the end of September, in preparation for the coming season, the BVV held a practice match against ST Ukraina, which our team won decisively 3:0. Afterwards, a few relaxed sets were played to round off the match.

VII. Queer Tango Marathon

In September, the Tango Argentino group of TanzTeam München hosted the international Queer Argentine Tango Marathons in Munich. 140 enthusiastic tango dancers from several European countries took part.

From 12 to 14 September, various DJs played a total of 30 hours of tango music.

[BEZ_MANDANT]

From early morning until late evening, couples danced to classical, neo-tango and non-tango music at the wonderful Kultur im Trafo venue. The focus was on the queer tango approach, in which leaders and followers are free to choose their roles.

Brunch in the morning and coffee and cake in the afternoon also helped to strengthen the sense of community among the dancers. A big thank you to the organising team and all the volunteers who contributed to a colourful and successful marathon, as well as to the team at the Fat Butcher bistro in Trafo for providing excellent catering throughout.

Information about our film:

Film adaptation of the bestseller about a young Muslim woman from a traditional household in the banlieues who discovers that her heart beats for women.

REVIEW:

Conflicting emotions beat in the chest of the courageous heroine of „The Youngest Daughter“. Together, they beat so loudly that your eardrums threaten to burst and your own heart to shatter when you embark on a journey of discovery with her in filmmaker Hafsia Herzi's wonderful third directorial work, which opens up the world to her but at the same time brings her into deep conflict with her origins and her faith. The film, a French-German co-production with German participation by Vanessa Ciszewski and Berlin's Katuh Studio, is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by the combative young writer Fatima Daas and tells the story of the only French-born daughter of Algerian immigrants who has to find her own way in a banlieue caught between Islamic faith and homosexual love. In the lead role, Nadia Melliti delivers a breathtaking performance in her first screen role. What a discovery, what a face, what an intense charisma!
