I. Team Munich supports the 2026 Gay Games in Valencia

The XII Gay Games will take place from 27 June to 4 July 2026, this time in Valencia. In 2021, the Spanish city was awarded the 2026 Gay Games, narrowly beating Munich.

Changes in the local political landscape did not make the road to the 2026 Gay Games easy for the organisers. After the city council elections in 2023, the right-wing anti-LGBTIQ party VOX moved into the town hall of the Mediterranean city as a coalition partner and initiated cuts in funding, which also affected some LGBTIQ organisations and initiatives, among others. Shortly afterwards, four local LGBTIQ associations withdrew from the event because they saw unacceptable changes in the organisational structure of the games. The LGBTIQ organisations further justified their withdrawal as a necessary and the only responsible measure to protect the original project of the Gay Games Valencia 2026.

The Federation of Gay Games (FGG) , which awards the games, describes this fear as false and unfounded and considers equal voting rights for the city council as a funding body and LGBTIQ organisations to be fair and necessary.

Since then, the four clubs have called for a boycott to send a political message against the right-wing populist VOX party and regularly spread misinformation. A large number of LGBTIQ clubs in Valencia and a broad majority of Spanish clubs support the games and ensures the integrity and diversity of the Gay Games . Among other things, the Gay Games are strongly committed to the inclusion of trans* people and self-determination of gender in sport and culture, contrary to the ideals of the VOX party. These commitments have been agreed with the local government and, according to their own statement, will be upheld at the event.

Expected 8,000 athletes from around the world , who will compete in 39 sports. There will also be an extensive cultural programme, a spectacular opening ceremony with the athletes' parade (a truly special moment that will give you goosebumps!) and an exciting village where participants and guests can meet up with old friends and make lots of new ones. Team Munich supports Valencia as host city for the Gay Games . Our athletes should take advantage of the opportunity to compete in the last games on European soil for a long time to come. The Gay Games in 2030 are expected to take place in Perth, Australia.

Participation fees will increase from 7 January. Register in December and benefit from the lower fees: https://valenciagaygames.fusesport.com/registration/1047/

And by the way: FLINTA individuals receive a permanent ten percent discount on the participation fee.

We hope to see you all in beautiful Valencia and show our support for Munich at the opening ceremony.

II. From the Executive Board

Today, our Chairman Dirk and Deputy Chair Simone introduce themselves:

Hey, I'm Dirk.  – Part of Team Munich with heart and soul since January 2011 and since 2017 as Chief Executive Officer Right at the heart of the action. At 46 years of age and in my job as a project manager for large-scale projects, I bring a great deal of organisational talent and a whole lot of heart to our club.

Even though I no longer actively participate in sports myself, Team Munich is much more than just a sports club to me: it is a place where diversity, solidarity and genuine friendship are lived out. As part of the board, I get to meet wonderful people, implement new ideas together with our team and ensure that our club life remains as colourful and warm-hearted as it is today.

I am particularly proud when we get to celebrate milestones – such as our legendary 20th birthday party with our own street festival or the 25th anniversary celebration at Feierwerk. And as chairperson, I am delighted that we were able to welcome our 1,200th member.

What motivates me? Quite clearly: the energy and commitment of all our members! Everyone brings something special to the table, and together we are creating a place where everyone feels comfortable and can get involved. It's simply fun to celebrate successes together, tackle new challenges and see how many individuals come together to form a strong and colourful community. I look forward to continuing to grow Team Munich with you – because together we are simply unbeatable!

Hello, I'm Simone. . I first came into contact with Team Munich when I was  Volunteer for the Eurogames 2004 . This special experience was so wonderful that I became involved in various community events for many years.

Team Munich also introduced me to yoga, which has now become an important part of my life. I have been on the board of the yoga division since 2022. My responsibilities include designing our website, planning the division's anniversary in 2023 and organising yoga workshops. I am particularly pleased that we have been able to expand our offering and now offer two regular yoga classes and have a second yoga teacher on the team.

Since this year, I have also been a substitute member of the board for Team Munich and am growing into new responsibilities here.

I am always thrilled that Team Munich is such a lively and diverse club, where many people are passionate about their sport. I really enjoy being part of our wonderful community. I look forward to meeting you at the bar, chatting at the information stand or doing yoga together.

IV. Handball

Good news: the handball season is progressing – and with it the hunt for points in three consecutive home games. First up was ESV Neuaubing II on 26 October. A close, hard-fought match , Neuaubing was narrowly ahead at half-time with a score of 8:10. It remained exciting until the end, but unfortunately we lost 21:23. A week later, we played our next home game against TSV München-Allach III. In short, it wasn't exciting until the end. Our opponents quickly took a clear lead and ended up winning 15:41. Ouch, but we had to shake it off and prepare for the next game.

On 23 November, the handball players from SV 1880 Munich came to our hall. They got off to a strong start, but after some initial difficulties, we were able to fight our way back into the game by half-time and went into the break with a narrow 11:10 lead. After that, our opponents rallied again and were leading by four goals with four minutes to go. But then we ignited our fireworks, didn't allow any more goals and scored Four seconds before the final whistle, the deserved equaliser! So we drew 24:24 – and grabbed a point!

This means we are heading towards the end of the year in high spirits. We still have two away games to play in December, against TSV Trudering II on 7 December and TSV München-Allach III on 14 December.

As always, we appreciate your support from the sidelines.

Also on the  Team Munich II is in second place in the South-East District League. . Most recently, there were two victories against ESV München-Ost (5:3) and TuS Geretsried III (5:3), but also a defeat against 1. BC München (2:6).

Our new team is performing very confidently. Team Munich III in District League B -Centre. After three victories against ESV München-Ost III (6:2), SV Lohhof VI (6:2) and SG Neuried/Würmtal III (7:1)  she leads the table by a wide margin . The last yoga class of the year will take place on 16th December . On this evening, there will only be one yoga class from 6:15 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. – perfect for unwinding together. We would be delighted if our yoga friends would join us afterwards at the Tollwood  come. That way, we'll have time to chat, laugh and simply enjoy each other's company. And if you can't make it to yoga or are unable to attend for other reasons, you're still welcome to join us at Tollwood.

We will start the new year on 13 January. with the yoga classes again. Harald will lead these first two yoga classes. After that, Maximilian will take over again.

VII. Volleyball

November marked the start of the season for Team Munich in the Bavarian Volleyball Association (BVV). After promotion to the District class our team now faces more difficult challenges. Three match days took place in November. Of the six games played, Team Munich has already secured four wins and only two defeats. Team Munich is currently in Fifth place.

The next match day will take place on 13 December from 12 noon at the Nelson Mandela Vocational College at Schleißheimer Straße 510 in Munich.

VIII. Table tennis

IX. Street Boys

The Munich Streetboys team ends the year in the C-Class 5 on an unfortunately unsatisfactory  10th place . With a hard-fought 4-4 draw against FC Wölfe München, the team heads into the long-awaited winter break. Until the second half of the season kicks off in March, it's time to recharge the batteries and prepare for the 2026 season with intensive, well-structured training sessions.

With successful tournament appearances in 2025 and the Tournament victory in Prague With last August behind them, the Streetboys will travel to Frankfurt on 6 December as serious contenders for the FVV's X-Mas tournament. We're keeping our fingers crossed that the 2025 tournament year will come to a successful conclusion – and that the foundation will be laid for a strong 2026!

X. Rugby

On 15 November, the Munich Monks faced last day of the tournament this year. The Munich Monks formed a playing community for this day with the Ravensburg Ravens and SG Black n Blue. In the first game, they faced their Giesing rivals TSV 1860 Rugby and prevailed 15-0 in a tough game with a lot of teamwork and strong tackles. What a start!

The second game of the day was against the hosts, TuS Fürstenfeldbruck. This game was also fiercely contested, but in the end, the Munich Monks team had to admit defeat with a score of 5:22.

Overall, the Munich Monks can look back on what has been  most successful year in the league with many games won and even more experience gained. Now everyone is eagerly awaiting the last event of the year: the legendary Christmas party.

XIII. News

From 1 January 2026, couples from the German Association for Equality Dance Sport (DVET) will be allowed to participate in open tournaments and ranking tournaments of the German Dance Sport Association (DTV) for the first time. . This decision by the DTV Sports Commission, which was the result of months of very constructive discussions between the association's executive committees, marks a milestone for German dance sport, as it removes the previous distinction between traditional couples and equality couples. Initially, there will be a two-year pilot phase. The aim is to gather experience until 2027 and decide on integration from 2028 onwards.
