I. From the Executive Board

In this newsletter, we introduce you to three more Members of the Team Munich Executive Board before: Natascha, Sarah and Thorsten.

I am Natasha (first/left photo with Thorsten) and since May 2003 with joy, fun and commitment at Team Munich. I've been responsible for member support on the Board since 2015. When I started, Team Munich had around 600 members - today there are almost twice as many. It makes me proud and very happy to be able to witness this positive development and to be part of a great team on the Board.

I've been active in table tennis from the very beginning, but I've also done some dancing and yoga in between. A special milestone for me was in 2013, when I led the table tennis division into the league with a women's team. Today, we have four women's and two men's teams.

My personal highlights also include taking part in the EuroGames and our summer sports festivals, which are always a lot of fun. I also have a lot of fun when I'm with the table tennis girls at the LeZ counter service.

I am Sarah (she/her) (second/right photos with Thorsten) and a member of Team München since 2015, starting with Flinta Football. I volunteer for the club because I arrived in the city through Team München. New to the big city, it helped a lot to have a place where you can get to know people through sport. I've made the best friends here and I want to give something back to the club!

Team Munich should continue to be a contact point and safe space for the LGBTQI*+ community. I would like to play my part in this.

[BEZ_MANDANT]

I am Thorsten and a member of Team Munich since 2004. I've been on the board since 2015 and am currently responsible for halls and new sports programmes. Until an injury, I was active in aerobics, running and rugby.

There are so many wonderful experiences with Team Munich! I particularly remember the performances with StepAerobic on the CSD stage and at the Corso Leopold and New Year celebrations. We also had many great sporting events with our friends in Filzbach (CH) and Frankfurt/Main. Our participation in the GayGames in Barcelona and Cologne were also highlights.

What I love about being part of the association are the many great encounters at Team Munich information stands at CSD and other street festivals. I've met a lot of new and nice people through the association.

What motivates me is that I can play an active role in shaping Team Munich and that the club is a place for people from the LGBTIQ* community and urban society where athletes (or those who want to become athletes) can come together, be active together and have a good time together.

The Munich team has a WhatsApp channel.

The channel allows interested parties to receive the latest news about the club. (Don't worry, you won't be spammed.)

III. help the Munich CSD to find a motto

This year's Munich CSD is looking for a motto!

We are looking for a meaningful slogan that focuses on cohesion and solidarity - especially in the face of increasing hostility from outside. Lesbian, gay, bi, trans*, inter*, queer - together with our allies.

You can do this up to and including Sunday, 8 February, submit your suggestions online at the following link: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/rT5P23LjsM

IV. Nia® from February at Team Munich

After the great success of the Nia® workshop with Chantal in autumn, we are now starting regular Nia® sessions.

The first date is 4th of February.

Nia® was developed in the USA and is a holistic movement training programme that combines elements of dance, martial arts and body therapy. It strengthens the body, expands one's range of movement, promotes expressive potential and supports inner balance.

With flowing, powerful yet playful movements, Nia® promotes the joy of movement, mindfulness and well-being.

Nia® is suitable for everyone - regardless of age, body shape or previous experience.

The training always takes place Wednesdays from 7 pm to 8 pm in the Sendlinger-Tor-Platz/Wallstr. 6 sports hall (except during school holidays).

You can find all the information here: https://teammuenchen.de/sportart/nia/

Anyone interested can test Nia® twice at any time and then decide whether they would like to continue participating and become a member. If you are already a Team Munich member, please let us know by sending an e-mail to mitgliederbetreuung@teammuenchen.de, that you would like to become part of the Nia® division.

VI Handball

New year, new motivation: the handball players have started 2026 with fresh energy.

After we started training again on 7 January, we played our first league game of the year on 11 January - at home against SV München Laim III. We started with eleven players, Laim with 15, and despite the smaller bench, we stayed within striking distance for a long time, but were ultimately beaten 20:26.

But just six days later, we had another chance in an away game against HSG München West 2. Even though we only had one less bench player than our opponents this time, they beat us by a clear 31:20 in the end.

But we are not discouraged by this and are looking forward to our next league games - with your support as spectators. You can find all the information about our upcoming games on our Instagram channel @teammuenchenhandball.

Do you know someone who would fit into our group? We are currently looking for new players and a new coach. For more information about us, training times, venues and more, please visit our website. www.teammuenchen.de/handball.

Planning for the second half of the season is already underway. Depending on the weather, outdoor training will also start again from the middle/end of February. Interested parties are welcome to contact us by e-mail at streetboys@teammuenchen.de to find out the current training data.

X. +PLUSS project completed

After three years of collaboration with partners in Germany, Croatia, Belgium, Denmark, Hungary and Slovenia, the Erasmus+ project PLUSS - Policy and Leadership for LGBTQI+ in Sport and Society - is coming to an end with a key message: inclusion in sport is achieved through daily action, not just words.

Led by the European Gay and Lesbian Sports Federation (EGLSF), PLUSS brought together LGBTQI+ sports clubs, organisations, researchers and activists to translate insights into practical steps to create more inclusive leadership and environments in grassroots sport.

Team Munich took part in the project and was represented by Board members Anh and André. As a result of the +PLUSS project, the Executive Board held two closed meetings, conducted the member survey and implemented various points. These include first aid training for coaches, filling the position of press spokesperson, creating the club's WhatsApp channel, formulating a code of conduct and revising the division manager handbook.

Three key results of the joint efforts of the PLUSS partners are now available:

Research reportA detailed examination of the origins and future prospects of LGBTIQ+ sport in Europe, presented in the form of a vivid, illustrated narrative.

Guide for the communityA practical toolkit for LGBTQI+ and mainstream sports organisations with a step-by-step guide to governance, safeguarding, volunteer involvement and sustainability.

Position paper (Purple Policy Paper): Clear recommendations for policy makers and sports organisations to break down structural barriers and embed inclusion in funding, regulation and sports governance.

Inclusion is not an optional extra; it is a leadership decision that determines who feels welcome on the pitch.
